Safety and Health Program Consultant What We Do At Ohio EPA, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws. What We Need YOU To Do Ohio EPA wants you to join our team as a safety and health program consultant with the Office of Human Resources (HR) at our Central Office in Columbus. Have a passion for promoting a culture of safety? Us, too! In this role, you’ll be our lead person for establishing and managing the agency’s safety and environmental health programs that keep staff compliant with the Public Employee Risk Reduction Program (PERRP) and applicable state and local regulations. You’ll work to promote a strong culture of safety and wellness within the agency. This includes reviewing existing practices and keeping detailed records of all safety activities and incidents to ensure we’re compliant and effective. You’ll enroll and advise employees regarding health benefits and monitor workers’ compensation. Your education and experience with safety and environmental health matters are key to developing and managing effective initiatives and standard operating policies including our crisis management and emergency response plans. You’ll oversee essential training programs like Respiratory Protection and HAZMAT/OSHA HAZWOPER and training programs that promote safety awareness, best practices, and requirements including the agency’s CPR and First Aid training efforts. You’ll act as Chemical Hygiene Officer and provide expert consultation to various agency teams including Radiation Assessment, Special Investigations Unit, and the Office of Emergency Response.
