Job Description

The Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for general maintenance and repair of Aspen Skiing Company Vehicles including Snowcats and other heavy equipment. Working with the shop team, Vehicle Mechanic ensures all Aspen Skiing Company vehicles are safe and operating at full capacity. This position reports to the Vehicle Shop Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  • General diagnosis, repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles including Snowcats, snowmobiles and other heavy equipment with moderate supervision
  • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems with supervision
  • Basic welding and fabrication
  • Maintain communication with related departments concerning vehicle issues and timeline for repair
  • Provide minimal supervision as well as assistance to vehicle maintenance trainees
  • Maintain vehicle records including but not limited to work orders, parts requests and warranty claims
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid, current unrestricted Driver’s License required
  • High school degree or equivalent preferred
  • 1+ years of vehicle maintenance experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • General knowledge of diesel engines, and general vehicle maintenance
  • Knowledge of 12 and 24 volt systems preferred
  • Ability to operate fleet vehicles including Snowcats, snowmobiles and other heavy equipment
  • Ability to safely operate equipment on steep grades, within tight proximities and around assets, both in ground and above ground
  • Ability to follow all safety policies and procedures and exercises caution when working
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions and event requirements

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand or be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time Regularly work in adverse conditions and required to use protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces Must be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 50 lbs. individually or with assistance

Skiing or Snowboarding is required for certain positions.
