Psychotherapy

I work with both individuals and couples to heal from the past and to accept themselves and their partners, all the while leaning into change. The acceptance/change paradox is key: We can’t change what has happened to us or between us, but we can work with and shift our responses and patterns–thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and somatic expressions–in the here & now and in the future.

I help guide my clients to accept (not to be confused with to like) what has happened to them so they can live a more choiceful life, filled with authentic connection, agency, creativity, and easeful well-being. You can think of me as holding the map of your territory while we explore, one step at a time, your path towards healing and wholeness. With my expertise and training guiding me, I might suggest looking at your life’s terrain in a new way, or I may point out roadblocks or alternative paths for you to consider, or I may simply slow things down to listen deeply so you can feel understood and validated.

You might decide to try EMDR or KAP to shake loose patterns that don’t serve you. You may decide to partner with a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner to create change with psychopharmacology. You may want to work with dreams, images, and archetypes. You may want you and your partner to have a witness to a relational rupture and facilitator for repair and regained closeness. You may want a consistent, kind, empathic person in your life to process life’s vicissitudes. If you’re interested in therapy with me, please contact me here.
